Hey I wanted to get an opinion from anyone who has ever had their vehicles painted by Maaco before! I seen a guys truck yesterday that looked great and said he only paid 400 for everything! I heard they sucked but the only 2 vehicles Ive seen get painted by them looked really good! I was gonna get just the rollpan cervinis hood and mirrors and door handles done for 200 bucks but shoot if I can get my whole truck painted for a decent price and of good quality i might do that! Thanks guys!

I have heard both good and bad.. to me I would not have my truck painted there but a project car or something that does not need to be perfect sure...

One guy my dad knows had his car painted like 6 years ago and it still looks great, my bud here who worked in a body shop for a while absolutely advises against them.. I say you make the call...

I have had friends that work there as well.
they were good and took pride in their work.
I think the thing to stay away from is their cheapest deals. tell them you want a quallity job and I am sure you will get it. You will have to pay for it though...and with that said why not just go to someone that charges more because they actually wash the car before they paint it.

it kinda depends on the place... here they just shoot the paint over the existing paint (bad) but i took my car there with me doing all the body work so it turned out good. Dont just get the $150 paint job... it shows

How long must you wait to wax your car after a paint job?

When I had the hood on my jeep repainted they said 30 days, when I just got my truck back from the body shop (rear ended) they said 90 days... The guy I work with who used to do body work said they used to wax immediately... Who is right that's anyone's guess...

simply put, you get what you pay for, and it is three months for waxing. And if you have fiberglass pieces painted it is good to leave them in the sun for a day to help "bake" it on

Just don't go for Earl Schieb. They tend to leave them outside to dry, and the one near my work is on the corner of two major roads, and beside railroad tracks.

Maaco is a franchise where quality can vary greatly between each one. Take a good look at the jobs being done at the Maaco you are considering. You don't always get more by paying more somewhere else.

I had one experience with Maaco...I'd give them a C+ to a B-. I had them change the car from a light blue to a dark blue, which was a bad idea, because they did a crappy job on the doorjambs and under the trunklid, painting over the dirt and grease and not trying to hide the old color. There were also some orange peely spots, but it was an old car and the price was right, so I didn't really care.

alas i agree with most, you get what u pay for, but it does depend on where you are as all the maaco shops do things diff. here also they will just spray over everthing, and i mean everything, pinstripe, etc. but i have seen maaco jobs that were really good almost to the point of custom and were about half the custom $$$, so all in all it's up to you.....and about waxing after painting, if the paint was baked after it was sprayed u can wax right away as baking cures it, if it's not baked than wait at least 1 month in warm weather, 2-3 months in cool or cold weather.........

My '03 quadcab was hit while it was at the dealers. It only had 500 miles on it...ouch!! They fixed the small dent in their new, state of the art body shop and said I had to wait 3 mos. to wax.

Had a local shop do a repair on my truck a few years ago, he was highly recommended and I had gone to school with his older sister, so feeling that I knew some of his family had the dent pulled and painted. What a mistake, between the base coat and clear coat, some Bozo had dragged a dirty, oily air hose over the paint, then did not clean it, just clear coated over all the dirt. He said I did it. Yeah right, I have no way to paint it, and they would not make good on it, nor would the insurance company that paid for the original repair. I no longer do business with either. So it just goes to show that some can be worse then Maaco.

my brother just got his 98 jeep wrangler back from a different maaco then i delt with (poor service/work). He bought the $150 half price paint special BUT paid another $500 for them to strip the whole jeep down to the metal... looks really good and smooth.

If you dont pay for it... they will just overspray your old paint (not even scuff it)
