I have a 2001 clubcab 4.7 4x4 dakota.The a/c only works on Hi, if I turn it down it just shuts off.The fuses are all good.thanks for the help.

i dont know about your truck, but mine has a resistor block on the fire wall that went bad and caused a similar problem. It was under 20 bucks from the dealer and took about 5 minutes to replace.

I think the resistor block is located on the firewalls in the Gen II trucks. On the Gen III's, I remember hearing someone mention that it was actually in the air ducting, so that it could be cooled by the airflow. I'm thinking in the duct under the dashboard, passenger side? Can anyone else help us out on the resistor block location for Gen III trucks?

pasenger side under the dash there is a little plug pluged into it, once you pull the plug out it has two screws holding it in, ther are two sensors under the dash one is black and the other in a small plug in the middle of a white circle its not that one, the resister is to the left of it, when you pull it out it will look like a plastic card like 2inches wide 3 inches deep and flat, hope this helps i have an 01 QC, 4.7 and have had to change both of them

once i turn it just one click down (from HI) it turns off.It cools when it is on hi.
