Yesterday, I just bought a 1999 Dodge Dakota Sport, 5.2L, 4x4, 5-spd, black. Looks sharp as hell but I was wondering what kind of gas mileage to expect. I had a car before getting 25 - 30 mpg and I know I'll never get that, it's going to be a big adjustment. I've never owned a truck before, always wanted one though.

Are there other things to be aware of? There are fog lights on this truck but I don't know how to turn them on.

Anything you can tell me about this truck I would greatly appreciate it. How many miles these truck will get before breaking down, lifespan. All that kind of good stuff.

Thanks!

Forget the days of 25-30mpg. Your going to be looking at more like 13-17 mpg depending on how heavy your foot is.
As far as the fog lights... when you turn the headlight control to either the parking lights or the headlights pull on the knob gently and that will turn on the fog lights. Good luck.

You certainly started your truck ownership with the right truck. The only thing that to be aware of w/ a dak is how much FUN these things are!!! It won't take long to get the aftermarket bug and then you won't be able to stop messing w/ it.

Congrats on the new truck!!

You'll love it. Gas mileage is nothing to brag about at all. If your referring to the stock lights that are under the front bumper, then there is a square button next to your headlight knob. If that is pushed in, those lights will go on when your headlights, or even just your parking lights, are on. Tires aren't that great though. If you still have the stock Goodyear Wranglers, I'd recommend going with a different tire when they wear.
