In my opinion this is crap. On 28 March 2003 California will try to pass this bill, which will require cars from 1959 and newer to get smog tested. This better not pass because most people who actually have restored and fixed up their pre 74 hot rods will have to take them in to get smogged. The only way to not let this bill pass is people have to go vote no on this. If anything pass the word around. I've attached the link that will take you to the bill so you can read it. It’s Bill 708. In Texas, if you are in a declared smog area, all vehicles from 1979 and newer have to be checked. If you live outside of a smog area and either sell or trade into a smog area the vehicle must pass a smog check or no title will be issued. In California, what smog controls were in place on a '59. We didn't get any smog controls until '64 and that was a PCV.

thats my point exactly, there we no smog controls period until i think around 64-66. They guy pushing this bill in my opinion is a jack @ss. All he wants is credit for saying hey he tried to clean the air and look good.

Its due to the fact the PREVIOUS bill was veto'd by Gray Davis re: no smog excemptions... Smog testing for all cars.
Just another attempt at the same thing, written with a different pen.

You know it is hard for me to have any sympathy. Everyone with at least two brain cells in their head knows that California is full of ultraliberal Nazi like extremists!!!If you like Women, Guns, High Performance Cars, Modifying Cars, Jewish or Christian values or the truth that you should stay far away from California. I left that state and have never been back and will proably never visit my family their.

smog controls on cars first appeared in 1969 with just a very few trying out egr valves, to go back 10 years before that is just plain stupid.

I wonder what kind of emissions requirements could possibly be set on a unrebuilt engine originally put together in 1959?
Hopefully the politicians will stop wasting tax dollars with this.
