Subject: HO intake install.....?
IP: Logged

Message:
OK, I've tried the search, looked for over an hour, but there were too many posts, some interesting reading though!

I'm putting the HO intake on my 2001 4.7 soon.

I've heard(read) that the IAT sensor will have to be moved b/c it's no longer in the manifold, right?

And that the one I have is not threaded on my 2001, so I need a 2000 AIT to thread it into my Homebrew intake, right?

And, anyone have any tips and tricks for the install? All the info I got here made the HO cams istall go well.

TIA

Dan,

Those are some excellent install instructions.....

for the cams!

I really need to know before hand about the AIT location difference, and maybe some tips and tricks on the install.
LIke: Did you remove the fuelrails? Need a specail tool?, etc.

I guess it depends on which year HO Intake manifold you get. The one I ordered had the IAT sensor location the same spot as my stock 4.7L. I can take some pics and send them to you if you need it.

Well, I did it the hard way on purpose. I pulled apart everything on, around, or near the intake (just b/c I'm a curious type of guy). I figured while I was in the, I'd tear the entire top end down. That's what I did :) Fun learning process. Oh, and digital cameras are a lifesaver sometimes! Definitely helped me.

There's really nothing I've seen for the intake. It's actually a lot of unbolting and disconnecting, but it's all really easy. Might take you 2-3 hours.

Thanks,

I'd like to plug the hole in the HO intake for the IAT (if it has one like my 2001 intake does.)

Then I would put it near the TB in my homebrew intake, and get rid of the IAT adjuster, that I never turn on anyway, b/c after a few miles, it throws a mil!

Anyone want to buy an IAT adjuster? $20 shipped!
