Last night a good friend of mine called me and told me that one of his friends told me that some poeple have an eye on my truck (especially on my 20-inch rims). Basically, they want to steal it and are waiting for the opportunity to do so? What the hell is wrong with people? You work hard to obtain something nice and soemone else just comes and want to take it away from you. This pisses me off. I do not want to sell it, but given the situation, I might be forced to do so. Anyone interested in a 2k V6?

That sux. I had a 79 bronco with 429 in high school. It got stolen and it was the worst thing. I hope you don't sell it because of that. I hope you find a way to catch these punks in the act.

Ya know, it's always easier to think that having a pile of junk car it won't get taken or have theft problems like a nice car. But in reality they get stolen too! Mostly because they don't have alarms or are not parked in good areas.
I know how it is to come out one morning and your truck is on blocks. You think hell with it I'm buying a Pinto. But, you'll just end up buying another nicer car.
Get wheel locks and keep the key on you along with a starter kill alarm with battery backup.
If your going to take a loss in trading around you would spend the same on the insurance deductible if it is taken.
If this friend of a friend isn't the one who's really planning to take it why didn't he give names? Pass around how it's got this alarm and that lock with a detachable face system ect..
Just watch out that they don't break into your house asking for the keys. Happened here recently.
Good luck. If anything put the stock wheels back on as that's probably what they want.

In all seriousness, if you live/work/park in an area where it is vulnerable to that crap, you need an alarm. I'd get their names too, then 'confront' them on the issue.

I don't think someone wanting to steal a truck is a very good reason to sell it.
I had a lowered S10 with full Bell-tech and energy suspention,huge sound system,aluminum aftermarket rims and hit was a theft target as well as a chick magnet.
I also had an alarm with back up battery,full perimeter,and pager. Nobody in 2 years even took a breath on it. Alarms are very inexspensive and cost a lot less than any ding you will take in vehicle depreciation. If your going to play then play right or be prepared to pay.

Disable the truck by pulling the fuse on the fuel pump, get an alarm, get a Club, get a battery disconnect, park another car tight up behind it so as to block it in. Find out who these folks are call a cop. Steal their car (just kidding on that one).

How do people with Vipers and Porches get by. We are talking about a Dakota here not the national gold reserve at Fort Knocks. Add some locking wheel nuts to the alarm if you don't already have them. I orderd my Dak with factory security,apparently the key even has a chip in it that has to be reconized by the vehicle.
Good deal. Alarm with special key was under $200 from factory. Sorry I know it doesn't help now but for next time.

they have alarms that curse at you now, that will get someones attention. maby look in to getting a lo-jack. I know it only help after it gets stolen but at least you will find it if it does get stolen. you can always pull a plug wire if you feel insecure.
what ever you do dont sell it unless you want to. I mine is also lowered on 20s and i know how many looks it gets, dont be afraid to drive it

get wheel locks and an auto lock!they cant take the truck if they cant use the brakes!click on the auto accsessory.com they sell them cheap i paid 50 bucks for mine thru them.

Don't sell it. That's what insurance is for. Protect it to the best of your ability and that's all you can do. I've had several busted windows in the past on my Mustangs and had a junky old '84 Chevy Celebrity stolen.
You might be out a couple of bucks for an insurance deductible but hey, that's what insurance is there to do for us. Protect us against thugs (hee hee).
Wheel locks, security system, cleaning out the interior so nothing is visible (CD's , Radar Dectectors, etc.) and parking it in a well lit area are just a few pieces of advise I have for you.
If somebody really wants it, they'll get it (even in the broad daylight like my Celebrity). That's when insurance kicks in.
Good luck and don't sell you ride!

Dude us this to your advantage. First off, get whoever called you to tell you or help direct you towards who is saying that crap... Also, have a lookout for your truck, and sicne it might happen soon maybe film it... Stuff was gonig down around my hood 6 months ago, and everynight i was asleep i put my video camera that could film a whole nights length of film on slow mode. And i just recorded over it everynight.. Well, after the 2nd week these a-holes came to my truck and were looking at it and walking around it for some time, till one guy saw the camera looking at them thru the window and jetted off... I'm just throwing ideas, but get on about it and ask around and be aware.
