Message: There is no way sirius would raise the monthly rate, or put commercials in the music. If anything Sterns show will be an additional fee. Though I doubt that would happen either. When XM signed opie and anthony they made it a premium channel which is like $2 or $3 dollars more a month. Sirius is sure to gain millions of listners from this one deal alone, and they would be stupid to punish thier existing customers or alienate future non stern customers by raising thier rates.

Message: Sirius has already stated that if only 1 million of the 12 million of Stern's unusually fanatical following actually migrate, the deal will pay for itself. That's not even 10% of his audience. At less than 50 cents a day, it'll happen.

Message: Another alternative to local broadcasts is an MP3 player. I have a Creative Nomad with 30GB of storage. It costs about $220 at various online outlets. I play it in my truck either through a cassette adapter or an FM transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack. I have almost 1,700 songs on it so far (it will hold approx. 8,000), so I can drive a LONG time without hearing the same song twice and I have the songs broken down into categories so I can pick what music fits the mood at the time. Real easy to add songs and edit playlists through my PC. I'll never buy another CD again :-)

Message: I have an ipod, but you can't really make a comparison with sat. radio and an mp3 player. I have just uner 9,000 songs in my ipod but they are all songs I've heard before. Never anything new. I can't get live NFL games on my ipod, or any talk radio. The only time I use my ipod is when I'm not near a radio, like at the gym or on the ski hill or something. It certainly doesn't have a place in the car.

Message: Sirius never plays the same song twice? Damn... I wasted all that money on an MP3 player so I could hear my favorite music in my vehicle over and over, whenever and wherever I want. And BMW is really blowing it by incorporating an IPOD plug-in into their car's audio systems.

Message: LOL who said Sirius doesn't play the same song twice? He's a moron. Your MP3 player never plays any new songs. Mine doesn't either. An MP3 player in the car is a great way to listen to your collection of music. Granted it's not CD quality, but it's still nice. You can't compare it to radio though. Don't even try. Apples and oranges tough guy. Ipod is a way over rated MP3 player by the way. BMW and Apple have a clever marketing department though. There are better and less expensive MP3 players then the Ipod but none even come close to the popularity Apple has acheived. To say BMW is blowing it is just stupid. Anyways, the point is, your MP3 player isn't comparable to sat. radio. Or regular radion for that matter. Go find a thread about cd changers, your comments won't be so out of place there.

Message: I just got a Sirius "plug and play". I'm enjoying the programming immensely, but when I drive into different areas, I have to change the FM station on which I'm using to listen to Sirius because there's a strong FM station nearby.
I'd like to hard wire into my factory radio or use some sort of adapter. Anybody have a suggestion?

Message: Convert the CD disc changer input located on the rear of the factory radio into an auxilliary input throught the use of an adapter from P.I.E.
Go to logjamelectronics.com and take a look at their adapters. You can easily run any electronic item with RCA outs through your factory radio by fooling the radio into thinking you have a CD changer. I run my XM sat radio with this set up. Works great.

Message: Well Gee. Why not just grab some rabbit ears and let's all watch free TV while we're at it? I mean, why would anyone ever pay for cable/satellite TV? Just buy all tapes or DVD's, right?
And "Ugh", when you stop paying for the music in your collection, it stops growing, i.e., nothing new. I have a little MP3 player, and it's great, but there's no practical way to carry all the variety of satellite radio in one. I do, however, record several hours of sat. radio programming on it and listen to it when I can't access the broadcasts directly.
One other thing....since it's a pay service, it isn't restricted by the FCC. In other words, it isn't censored. Pay services aren't for everyone, but it's great having a choice. To each his own.

Message: Why would anyone pay for XM? 1)commercial free 2) ALL Major League baseball games 3) College sports etc.
Since I installed XM about 1.5 years ago, I haven't listened to local stations at all. In fact, I unscrewed my AM/FM radio antenna and placed it under my rear seats (in case I need it.) That's how unimportant local radio is.

You decide. Either is better than terrestrial "free" AM/FM radio.

Message: Why pay for sattelite radio? I travel a lot and I get tired of searching for good FM stations. When I finally find one I like, in twenty minutes or less, I'm out of that staion's range and the search begins anew.
Since I subscribed to Sirius, I've heard songs I've been longing to hear for years.
Here's a thought for broadcast radio programmers: There's a whole lot of good music out there you're not playing. For instance, when I listen to a Country station, I'll hear the same songs 10 times a day. There's 100 years worth of recorded music out there folks! If you want broacast radio to survive, you need to play something besides the top forty songs.
