Subject: Passenger side wet carpet IP: Logged
Message: Okay I have a 2000 dakota and apparently this truck is leaking somewhere in the back. I thought it was the back window. I found a leak coming from the back passenger side corner, right under the window. This is a new back window and before new window was installed that side leaked too in the same place. What the f*ck. I can't find where this is leaking. Has anyone had this problem. It leaks in a seam opening but have no clue where the water starts to to come in. I have not pulled the headliner or side vinyl pieces. Not a A/C leak.

Message: glad to know someone else is having a similare
problem. mine appears to be commin from the pass.
side door though. i gutted my entire truck with
the exception on my dash headiner and drivers
seat. then i drove it around in the rain it leaked
from the headliner so i took the weatherstripping
off and reaplied it. i'm gonna go washthe truck
now and see how it does. my only answer would be
that if you know where the leak is comin from,
jsut get some clear sealent like Goop or somethin
of the sort and use it to seal the hole. hope thi
helps

Message: Well I guess I could take some glue and seal that spot but then water would remain inbetween metal causing it to rust. I really don't want to solve one problem and then have a major problem down the road.

Message: Same problem here. I think the water is getting in at the top corner of the back window seal, then dribbling down and getting inside at the bottom. I am going to try using clear silicone caulk to seal up the upper corners.

Message: So I cleaned out and caulked the upper corners, and after a night of rain I see the window is no longer leaking! Pried up the seal inside and it is dry. KILLER!
BUT, I also see there is water coming out from behind some piece of metal in back, the only thing I can think of is water is getting because of that trim piece between the roof and the side panel above the window. I will have to wait until the rain stops before I try to caulk that...
