Subject: Where are all the GENII's for Sale? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys,
Recently bought a 2000 Durango SLT with the 5.9L for carrying the family around. Always wanted a Dakota though, and after doing some research it seems that a '92 or '93 with the 5.2L would do me just fine.
BUT... where the heck are they? A search on autotrader.com finds me only 4 for sale within 300 miles of Los Angeles. How many did they make? Are there just not that many around or do people just love them so much they keep them around?
How would mileage on one of these compare to my '92 Trans Am 5.7L? I get around 18mpg with that one. This truck would be my daily driver (though I'd still mod as much as I could!) so it would be nice if the gas mileage was better.
Thanks for the help.

Message: Well most of them around here are used as work trucks .I know one thing I'll never give mine up.As for Gas Mileage they get about 14mpg with the 5.2l on the Highway but boy they are fast. Make most R/T look like they are sitting still.I have the V-6 5-speed and I get 17.5 on the Highway and thats with a bunch of Mods. You'll pretty impressed with V-6 also it not as latheric as the Gen III are.If your just looking for a good work truck then you cant go wrong with the Gen II. I LOVE MINE

Message: 14 mpg? i can still pull 20 mpg on a 93,318 with 192,000 miles on it and im guessing i will see turn 200,000 (fingers crossed & knocking on wood)but in reality my avg mpg is probably about 8-10. i cant seem to keep my foot off the floor, think its a light throtle spring or something! I would sell you mine but i am sure you could never pay me enough to let it go, its my baby and its paid off!

Message: I've had my '93 CC V6 3.9 AT since it was new - still runs great - 175,000 miles - getting around 18MPG - mostly highway driving...
Still waiting to see what comes next for Dakotas
May go for the Ram with the 5.7 - but no hurry to decide

Message: It took me forever to find my 95 CC 4X4! But I've had it for a few years now and I ain't sellin'!! We just found my father-in-law one with the V8 and he was looking for almost a year. They are hard to find, most people that have them keep them obviously, they're perfect size to handle around town plus they can work just like a full size. Best of both worlds!

Message: Anything else in particular I should be loooking for? I know I want '92 or '93 because those were the best years for the exhaust, and 5.2V8. I'd like an extended cab.
But anything else? LE, Sport, etc. What are the differences?
Thanks.

Message: im not sure about the SLT or Sport, Mine is an LE it has power win/locks and a little chrome. Keep an eye out for limited slip diff. I wish i had one, though i think my open diff has saved my life on a couple of slick roads.
