Subject: "Beater trucks"? IP: Logged
Message: I know this is a Dakota site, but what the heck.I'm a little intrested in this,so..........
I got a 80 Power Wagon SB,mildly worked 360,cam,manifold,windage tray.....
It's my "beater" truck.I'd say I have around $3g's into it.It was a rust bucket when I got it,but after some amature body work it's not to bad.If it gets a ding or a scratch, who cares?Something I can have a little four-wheeling fun with.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has a "beater"?
If you do,what's the details?

Message: i have a 1990 nissan pickup that i use as my beater.it is great for smashing around in the mountains and going back trails that we have no idea where it goes or how it will end up.I'm also got a 1989 dodge ram with a 6 inch lift that we are fixing up for serious offroad and a 1976 cj that needs put back together this summer.I'd rather bang these vehicles around than my 2001 quad cab that only has 20,00 miles on it.

Message: Yeah, that's sweet. My power wagon sits on a 3" lift on 31's.Not too agressive, but it works.I used to get around in a 53 willy's utility wagon in high school. My dad droped a buick V6 from a cj5 in it.Too cool.

Message: I was using a 1991 Mustang (Notch-back LX) as my (PAID FOR) "beater".
Decided to sell it, for mods... What was I thinking? I miss it every once in a while, but when I hear the whistle under the hood the memories sort of vanish. hehehe
I'll be looking for another beater next year. With the price of gas going up, I may just be looking for a 4-banger.
Here's a pic of my old beater

Message: The last beater truck I owned was 80 chevy 3/4 ton . Blasted thing had a 350 4 barrel and a turbo 400 trans(3 speed auto) . It didn't matter what the load, how fast , or where I drove it got 12 mpg every time. I brought it used with 70k miles on it and put another 100k on it with only routine repair work. It finaly gave up the ghost, but was the bed and floor was so rusted if I had stomped my foot down, I would have been doing the flintstone stop. I hope the dakote can give me that kind of wear
