Has anyone ever put a crate engine or any other small block or big block dodge in a pre-magnum
Dakota? If so what were the problems you faced and how did you overcome them? I am planning on putting a 402ci stroker crate engine from Mopar into my 88 dakota reg cab shortbox. It's got a 3.9 V6 auto with a K&N Air filter, Edelbrock headers and dual 2 1/4in exhaust to a single Flowmaster 50 series muffler with a single 3 inch pipe after that dumps in front of the pass. rear tire. Rear end mods include 3.55 gears and an Auborn Posi. This truck is good for low 17 sec E/Ts at 85 mph.
With the 402 I hope for low 12s at 110 mph.

If anyones put a high performance small or big block into these trucks then please let me no on you experience with the transplant.

Thanks

motor mounts and exsh.,ignition and trans converter.i,ll try to cover one thing at a time.
[1]mounts-build your own and save $$$ or go to www.engine-swaps.com they have mounts for LA/RB in a 4 banger/v6 dak.$385+s/h-trans mount and adaptor $75 for 727 trans.
[2]smr trans.com-build a500/a517 trans and converters for street and strip use prices not to bad very helpful and nice to talk too.[theyalso have adaptors for a500/a517 to RB,s]
[3]exsh. LA headers avail.RB do,nt know.[hedman maybe]
[4]if you go RB you,ll also have a problem with the fan
[5]ignition-go after market.mp or another.
[6] good luck
[7]LA is the cheaper way to go.
