Last Tuesday my truck was broken into and he (got him on survelance tape) tried to steal it. He smashed the rear quarter glass ($392 CDN OEM) punched the door look, and punched the steering cloumn. Hopefully get the truck back tomorrow night (Monday) Have an Alpine alarm system SEC-8025 and he could not get the truck started due to the starter kill system. No other damage that I know of yet. RCMP officer has a '01 he says they (Dodge) changed the steering column to get rid of the glow ring around the key to make it harded to steal. '01 column housing does not fit in '00 I asked, them to put it in place of the damaged parts but can't, I think the entire steering column would have to be replaced.

Garth you had a alarm in your truck ,didn't the siren go off?Where was it parked at.
I have a Viper alarm with a starter kill system and it has a siren,just wondering.

I live in a condo and it was parked in the underground parking, yes it has a siren, it woke me up, but there are a lot of cars in the area that have alarms that keep going off so I was not sure if it was my or not.
