Subject: Where is the best place to buy a .22? IP: Logged
Message: Hello all......I have some pay back to distribute on a little punk that knifed my tire. Well I've talked to all the local police, I know them all very well. They have advised me to just get him back, and that he deserves it. You see without getting into detail, I know he did it but have no visual proof from anybody. So here is what I need, Im gona do it at his place of business, so I need either a suppressed barrel for a .22 rifle or a .22 pistol with a silencer. I know I can get a .22 rifle for dirt cheap, but its the silencer part I would really like to have, any ideas?????

Message: Just get subsonic 22's. Go to any hunting and fishing store. They sound like a pellet gun when fired thru a rifle. But are loud in a pistol.
They are about twice the cost of regular 22's. They're great for backyard intruders and the neighbors won't know what happened.

Message: This is the kind of stuff that gives the gun control people more ammunition, no pun intended. Don't be a fool. In the first place, silencers are banned by federal law, and if you get caught with one, you're in BIG trouble. The ATF will be at your house in no time, and that's even before they charge you with reckless discharge of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon...whatever. Do you want to go to jail over a flat tire? I sure wouldn't count on any cop or DA looking the other way when assault with a firearm is concerned.
If you feel that you must seek revenge on this guy, take these other guys' advice who wisely suggested that you bloody his lip, or, at the most knife his tire in return. I've been around guns for many years, and I used to teach NRA certified handgun and home defense classes. I know what can happen when you get stupid with guns. Leave the firearms on the range or in the field, for God's sake.

Why don't you post on one of those wacko militia web sites? I'm sure that they can set you up with a rocket launcher or something more suitable than a wimpy .22.

Message: You need a .22 WMR to punch through that tire at a given distance over about 50 feet or so. Whatever you do, don't use hollowpoints in your regular .22 LR. And for squirrel hunting, I use the CCI CB Long rounds. They are extremely quiet, and are slightly slower than the subsonic rounds (which typically travel 950-1000 FPS). The CB Longs are 750-780 FPS, and their priming material is MUCH quieter when it goes off after firing pin impact. If you "had" to shoot out tires, then there are rounds made by Aguila called SSS (Sub Sonic Sniper). They are 60 grn weight .22LR round that will be accurate at and do significant damage to targets up to 150 yards away. These rounds are used by special forces for shooting out lights and cameras and such...pretty friggin cool for raccoon hunting or beaver hunting too. They do require a high twist rate barrel, and I would reccommend either a Ruger 10/22 or a Marlin SQ rifle (bolt action, heavy barrel). They have twist rates high enough to do what you're asking. By the way, how many local ordaninces will you be breaking when discharging that firearm in city limits? Or withing 50 yards of county roads? Revenge is a dangerous game...and no, I do not condone this activity. I just happen to know a crapload about guns and ammo.

Message: FBI, you are a moron! This is a discussion forum and we can say whatever the hell we want. Freedom of speech. You cant do a damn thing to any of us for simply giving our 2 cents on an internet board and you know it. Only a complete ignorant 12 year old would fall for that empty threat. Whether or not this dork wants to take action against the guy does not put the blame on us. As far as using a firearm on someones vehicle, you are completely retarded for even thinking of doing that. Yeah it's quite easy to make a silencer, and any numbnuts with half a brain could do it, but there is no need. Grow some nuts and either whoop the guys ass, or slash his tires in turn, an eye for an eye.
Enough talk about guns on a truck forum! Quit stirring the hornets nest about gun control. Use your guns for sporting purposes only and not to injure or kill people! The only way the gov will get my guns is if they pry them from my dead cold lifeless fingers. But I'll sure nail some of them sons of bitches before they get me, don't even try to violate my amendment rights.

Message: Revenge CAN be sweat. Just don't go to JAIL over the little phucker!
If you get to his vehicle, take a bottle of any cheapo motor oil and crawl under his ride. Pour that sh*t all over his exhaust.
It will smoke for miles and embaress him MUCH more than a flat tire :-)
I've done some pretty good practical jokes. Some of my most harmless ones were using model rocket engines.
1)I made a complete rocket and mounted it in a short tube. I then fixed that in my bro in laws front grill down low like where a fog light would be. Then I connected the ignitor to his turn signal wires (solder sewing pins to the ends of wires. Then poke pins through wiring for fast connections). When he used his turn signal to rurn left (where I KNEW he'd be in traffic) that damn thing fired and flew a mile down the road leaving a smoke trail!
That was about 9 years ago.
2)second best thing I did with model rocket engine was just using the engine with no rocket.
I took one rocket engine and taped it up to about a six foot long kite string. Then I mounted it in a short tube with the string wound up behind it. To power it I soldered four AA batteries together and used a simple mercury bulb from a old t-stat.
It was small and self contained. I knew this girl at the time and she was the target. She has like a 93 Cougar. I duct taped the thing under her front bumper in like 2 minutes time. Made sure the mercury was laying in the OPEN position and connected the last wire to the circuit.
Then when she drove and made a left hand turn the mercury made contact and fired the rocket engine.
Best part was it was attached to the six foot string so it bounced all over her hood until it finally broke free and flew off.
You should have seen how big her eyes got!!!
Have some FUN with the punk. Just don't get busted over his lame ass.

Message: Actually, the correct term is supressor since it's nearly impossible to "silence" a firearm. If we examine the causes of a loud discharge (Larry Flint publications?) we can use simple engineering to come up with a solution. (And just to clear up some misconceptions, the Second Amendment gaurantees you your right to own one, providing you comply with Federal Law. Just fillt out a BATF Form 4. This involves getting a Signature of the "Chief Law Enforcement Officer" in your area signifying that he has no knowledge that you will use your weapon for anything other that lawful purposes. Of course, killing a punk isn't yet considered lawful so that will be our little secret.)
Since we know that firearms work by using a contained explosion to hurl a projectile down a barrel, we have our first clue. The noise we hear is caused by two things. The first loud bang is caused by the introduction of a tremendous volume of hot gases into ambient conditions. The second is the crack of the bullet going supersonic, if it happens to do so.
So we need to find a way to introduce the hot gases to ambient surroundings in a controlled fashion. Most supressors are simply tubes filled with baffle discs that have holes in them and force the hot gasses to take relatively long, convoluted paths to the outside air. During the time of this journey, the gases expand and cool somewhat in a controlled and contained manner. Much like the muffler on your truck. Bigger with more baffles equals quiter, smaller with fewer equals noisier.
Now if we really get into the physics of it, we'll soon discover that supressing anything much bigger than a .22 rimfire or some of the smaller pistol cartridges yields a supressor design that quickly becomes unwieldy and impractical for field applications.
For your application I might suggest a field improvised supressor using a 2 litre pop bottle. You'll have to fabricate a fitting to go over the barrel that has the correct thread for the pop bottle but I have seen these work quite effectively. Also, do a google search on "rifle supressor". There is a lot out there. Hell, you can build a hydrogen bomb if you want. That'll scare the little prick.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to suggest either a long bow, if you must kill at a distance and be quiet. Ted Nugent is the real expert on that topic as I have only a passing knowledge of archery.

Message: Carswell makes an excellent ported supressor for .22's you will have a little trouble finding one though and being that they are illegal I cannot send you that info. BUT they do provide excellent suppression and if you are planning on a close range gut shot I would also recommend putting a filed cross into the soft lead so it will break apart easier when it spalls. Other than that I wish you luck and go for the kneecaps or the pointer finger/thumb apex of the hand first.
