Well it is indeed a sad day in my Dakota world. Last Friday night I went up against my freinds 2000 Nissan Frontier(non-supercharged) Dessert runner(2wd) with some 3.? V6. I dont know if it was my bad reaction time or that I have auto and he has stick or my Dakota is 4wd with almost 104,000 miles and his is 2wd with less than 60,000 on it. I have decided to stop trying to race my truck against others and stick to light to medium offroading in my Dakota. I have thought about performance mods for my 93 but I think I will save my money and spend it on mods for my next truck, a "fresher" Dakota 4wd with V8.

Your Dak served you well. There is no dishonor is growing old. Take good care of her and after she is gone, remember her as she was in her youth.

Hey, cheer up! I have some good news to help if
you'd like to hear it. This past weekend, my
friend in his R/T whooped the crap out of a ford
lightning by like 3 car lengths. He has nos, but
the lightning has a supercharger. It kind of
balances out. If the R/T had just a supercharger
as well, it could've still beaten it. Just not by
as much. I have a '97 dakota v6. It's not so fast,
but I'm an off-roader. I know exactly how you
feel!!! Take care.

Yours in Dakotas,

Tony

Andrew: dont feel to bad because if the 2000 Frontier is similar to the 93' the gearing in the rear end was something like 4.35. I had a 93 4 wheel drive SE V6 auto extened cab 31x1050x15 and the gearing was something like 4.64 if I remember correctly and when taken out of overdrive and the tranmission set from econmy to power, these switches I think were removed in the newer trucks, when stepped on would get up and move even with 90,000 miles on them.

Its probably a good thing I dont race any more because yesterday I was driving and noticd my motor was doing about 28,000 rpm at 25 or 30 mph. I think it may be the tranny going out.
