Message: Really depends on what year and trans you have in it. You might want to check you owners manual first.

A new transmission to replace the one you're about to destroy.

Message: I took my 99 Dak to my dealer, I had him do a complete fluid exchange of my auto tranny. If I have my #s correct, the tranny+converter hold together 12+ quarts. When you just drop the pan you are only changing 4+ quarts! This cost me 109$ but he also droped the pan, changed the filter, adjusted the bands and used ATF+4(the new stuff). My tranny now shifts even better than the day I bought it.

Message: Actually, now that I remember, FORD called their automatic transmissions AOD's. Like Seagul said, you might want to have a new tranny ready after the this one blows up.

Message: Go to
http://www.goa-northcoastoil.com/tips/atffluids.html
to get a comprehensive outline of the ATFs used by the big three. The general emphasis that I got from this oil company website was that it's VERY important to use the EXACT oil that's specified for your AT.
Good luck.......
