I have a 92 CC 4x4 5.2 8.25" w/ 3.55's. Its not a limited slip or anything and my first question is if its worth putting a posi or a locker in this rear end? If so any good suggestions? But my second question seems like a better idea to me. Does a Gen III rear end bolt up to a gen II truck?
I dont know if the 9.25 would? But if I found a rear end with a locker in it already, could I get it and bolt it on like say a junk yard or a shop? Thanx

I was wondering about a question similar to yours. I have a 3.55 rear end in my 98 and i was wanting to switch to a 9.25 as well. With that switch, am i able to take the rear axle off a 4x4 even though mine is 2x4, or will that not work?? How about taking it off a durango instead??

you can swap to a 9.25 very easily, everything will match up perfectly... There is nothing wrong with the 8.25 though. you can find a posi and some 3.92's pretty cheap and it will hold all the power you want, plus it's lighter. If you find a good deal on a 9.25 go for it but other than that it is a waste of time and $$$

A Gen III 9.25 is 3" wider than a Gen II rear. I just looked at doing this on my '95. It will work, but even with fender flares, your tires would stick out pretty far.

I have been told that a Gen I axle can not handle a 3in tire. This is on a 2wd too. Is this correct? And please confirm that I have a 8.25 in in my 1990 2wd v6 dak. Thanks
Just wanna be sure...
