Message: They will both get about the same fuel economy
unloaded, but the 4.7 will beat the 3.9 when towing or
hauling a heavy load.
There are a lot of mods that will help increase fuel
economy and switching over to Amsoil Synthetics is a
pretty good start.

Message: I've got a 2000 QC w/ the 4.7 and 5sp, 3.55lsd rear end. I can average about 16, and get about 20 on the highway (75-80 mph). DONT GET THE V6. The 4.7 is great. It surprises most people that this truck is so quick.

Message: I dont know what the difference between our trucks could possibly be but I have a 2001 Quad Cab with the 4.7 and i have never got below 16.5 mpg, I average 18.5 and have gotten as good as 21 on the highway on a long trip. I keep hearing people complain about their milage but I am perfectly happy with mine. The milage is almost as good as the Ford v-6 5 speed that I traded in to get the Dodge. And no, I dont baby it either. The 4.7 is just so much fun that its hard to keep from punching it every chance I get.

Same exact story here. I have a CC, though...

Message: Your not using the overhead computer to figure the mileage are you? I've heard it gives you a false reading of around 2 MPG more.
I track my mileage very carefully and the best I ever got was 13.84 :( I'd love to see 14 or 16 but do not think that's going to happen with auto and 3.92 rear-end, and no way it's happening while towing which is around 90% of my mileage.

Message: I don't have an overhead computer, so no, I have to do it the old fashioned way. I never get below 16.5 MPG unless I'm at the track all day or just resetting the computer after a mod.
