 Subject: weird reverse lights 2001 dakota

4.7L 2001 DAK WHEN IN DRIVE THE REVERSE LIGHTS BLINK ON FOR A SECOND, THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM.
ANYBODY EVER HEARD OF THIS. A WIRE CHECK HAS FOUND NOTHING TWICE. THEY INITALLY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH, WHICH IS 1600.00 CANADIAN. BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO BUY THE FULL ASSEMBLEY THEY ARE REFUSING UNTIL THEY WITNESS THE PROBLEM.iF ANYONE HAS A SOLUTION PLEASE REPLY.

Did you ahve them check the reverse light switch? If its a auto it shoudl be somewhere on the steering column. On my old chevy it was on the steering column and what it did was it moved slightly so the lights would come on once in a while. it can be kicked out of wack

I don't think the newer electronically controlled auto has a reverse light switch. I think the TCM controls the backup lights.
