 Subject: faulty reverse lights

for some unknown reason my reverse lights come on while in "D". they pop on for a flash and go off again. the dealer said, "unless they stay on so they can see it, there is nothing they can do." they have done a wire check x 2 and found nothing. they initially ordered a neutral safety switch and when it arrived thet said it was the wrong part for my 2001. then i heard nothing for a couple of weeks so when i stopped by they said they could not order just the switch but the full apparatus (what ever that means)anyway the cost for the part was 1600.00. therefore they needed special clearance which they could not get without witnessing the problem themselves. the reverse lights blink periodically and stay on for a second or two. any help would be much appreciated. my dak is 01, 4x4, 4.7 lit with 25000km.
