Hey guys I have a question. On the driver side about half way back, bolted to the frame is a black box with a few hoses connected to it. One of those hoses is a black plastic tube. On my truck it is broke off. There appears to be a sensor or something that this hose was connceted to. The truck seems to be running fine and there is no warning lights on. Any idea what this thing is and is it important?

I have seen that box on my truck as well, from what i can say it looks like some part of the emissions, like a vapor canister, for gas fumes, etc.... if it is broke you may find one in the wreck yard cheap, but call dealer for price,as some wreck yards try to take advantage of people in prices, a good wreck yard should be 50-60% lwr in price than a new one.

more than likely what you are looking at is a small black box called the leak detection pump. its part of the evap system on your truck for emissions. is it under the bed on the driver side? if so, then im probably right.

Thanks guys, you think it will be ok and not damage my truck to run with it broke off, for a few days. Until we can get dug out around here,we got around 25 inches of snow here in Carroll County, MD.
