Subject: Looking for Trany Pan with Drain Plug

Message:
I am looking for a transmission pan with built in drain plug. It must fit the 45RFE trany! I do not car if it is cast aluminum or stamped steel. I will make one from an OEM pan if I have to but prefer prefab.

I purchased a new one from the dealer and then went to Autozone and picked up a drain plug. The new pan is larger than factory. They made it to fit the 46rh as well as the 46re. Just make sure that the drain is located in an area that has clearance for the drain without hitting the valve body or anything else.

OPPS, sorry I just noticed that you were talking about the 45re and not the 46re. So the above my not apply to you other than the drain kit from Autozone.

B&M, TCI, and Derale all make deep pan with a drain. Check the web for phone numbers, don't have them handy. I know one of them can help you.Good luck.

But your's is a 45RFE. If you have called B&M, TCI and Derale, the only other place I know to try is Mancini Racing 1-800-843-2821. Hope this may help. Good luck. Post us a find so we can bookmark it for the future. Good luck.

Found one other reference to the 45rfe. Dodge makes a replacement filter for a deep pan 45rfe. It's for a 4WD. Maybe there's a difference in the 2WD and 4WD pan. Might check the dealer. It may have a drain. I search for an aftermarket pan and didn't find one. There may be one in the making somewhere though. Keep checking. Good luck.

You people are nuts, you can buy a kit from NAPA and others. The kit come with mounting instructions. cost is about three bucks. I have had one on mine from 2001. Its not very big but its better than taking a bath in tranny fluid.

Blueballs you are right. I would prefer a more permanet fix then the twist together kits like B&M and other offer. I have never used the twist together kit's but I just do not like the idea. I thought about giveing it a try and useing some locktight just to be safe!I will install it on a spare pan so the origanal will always be available to reinstall. I am also wondering how far into to the pan it goes? I want to get as much out of the pan as possable!Does the thickness of the half in the pan interfer with drainage? How much stays in the pan?
