I think it's a high sulfer content in the gas.
I can remember when unleaded and cats came out-I"m 42, and it seemed all the cars smelled like that.
Is it normal?, dunno, I think so.

Message: That smell is also a side effect of an impropery functioning or even failing O2 sensor. It's not always the cat's fault.
