Subject: Tranny fluid level?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 99 5.2 auto 4x4 with the 45rfe transmission, what is the proper way to check the level of the transmission fluid, engine warm and tranny in park? or engine warm and tranny in neutral? (I checked the archives and couldn't find any reference to this)
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sonny.

Tranny must be warmed up completely and in neutral... lube circuits are not active in park, so you'll get a false "overfill" in park.

Thanks, I found out today it was neutral, I didn't have a manual as I bought the truck used and it was too dark last night to see the words on the stick, but I know that now, and the fluid was low.
Thanks again for the info.
Sonny

I posted 2 replies to this and neither of them showed, so here goes #3, I did find out it was neutral, and it was low on fluid, and I also found out it is on the stick. I don't have a manual as I bought the truck used.
Thanks for your info.
Sonny
