Subject: How to get a code on a 2000 dakota. IP: Logged
Message: Ive been reading in the arcives and couldnt get it straight. My check engine light keeps coming on every once in awhile so i reset the pcm then its gone for awhile and comes back. I tryed holding in the trip/odo button and it does say scan and a L flys all over the display and then it blinks "trip" etc then its over no code. Just wondering why its not working.
Thanks

Message: You have to do a key on/key off/key on/key off/key on sequence. After the third key onn, the odo shoudl read the codes, and say p-done when finished.

Message: What you did was the gauge self test. Do what HSKR said and then check out your codes here: http://www.obdii.com/codes.asp

Message: Thanks guys. The code I got was P0138 and according to the site it says the Oxygen sensor 1/2 input voltage maintained above normal operating range. Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be my V8 tb and sensors that are causing it? I cant see my sensor being gone with less then 20,000 miles on the truck.
Thanks
