Subject: spark knock, pt. 3 please help IP: Logged
Message: It's back #@*#!. A quick summary. '97 V6 4x4 with light spark knock only when idling (sometimes when going up hill and really stepping on it) and only after the truck warms up. Solutions already tried include Autolite 3923's, 180 t-stat and slick-50 (worked for a while) and fuel treatment/cleaner.
Does anybody have further suggestions? I remember Bernd saying something about having the PCM flashed with a slightly retarded timing curve, and something about removing and cleaning the IAC valve. Someone also mentioned re-routing the spark plug wires. What does that involve? How are they re-routed?
Am I to the point where I should just turn up my radio?

Message: Forgot to include that in the original post. It doesn't matter what grade of fuel I use, it still knocks.

Message: Have you had the codes from you ECM/PCM read? What did they find? I would put a bore/endoscope into the cyclinder and check for carbon build up on the piston tops. Check your wires, cap, rotor, egr valve and your your knock sensor. I would check all of the thermal sensors as well.
