Subject: P215/75R15? IP: Logged
Message: These are my stock tires. What to each set of #'s mean and if you go up or down what does that say about the tire size I.E. is a P235 taller or shorter then a P215. Is a 65R skinnier or wider then a 75R? I know the 15 is the rim size. I want a wider tire to replace the balding back tires. If you go with a taller tire will this effect the milage and speedometer?

Message: I went from P215/75/15 to LT235/75/15.
About 1 inch taller.
I had the dealer change the pinion factor for
the new tire size.
Speedo is okay. Mileage is roughly the same.

Message: Ok...so tire height does affect speedo and it correlates to the first #, going higher is taller. I am inferring then from that, that if the second set of #'s were higher (75 to an 85) then the tire would be wider. So what I'm looking for is a 215/85R15 truck tire. Thanks

Message: ok 215 75 15
the 215 is th4e width of the tire in MM.
the 75 means the sidewall is 75% of the width
the 15 means its designed for a 15 inch rim
So lets say you go for a 235 75 15 it would be both wider and taller than a 215 75 15.
if you go to 4lo.com they have a tire size calculator that converts from metric to inches
