Subject: auto tranny prob. - please help!!! IP: Logged
Message: My '97 3.9 V6 auto slt club cab 4x4 doesn't want to shift into overdrive when going down the highway. It will shift up to 3rd fine, but won't go any farther. This only seems to happen on extended trips when it is fully warmed up. It seems like it may only happen when it is really cold out, like 20 below, but again, only when the truck is fully warmed up. When I turn on the overdrive lock-out, the rpms drop by maybe 100-150, like the truck it trying to shift up when the lockout is disengaged. When I hit it again, it still won't shift up. I changed the fluid and filter with no effects, could it be a band adjustment? Sometimes if I stop for a few minutes and shut if off (getting gas etc.) it will work, until I have to slow down again. Has anybody else seen this? Please help, gas is really expensive!!!!

Message: it could possibly be the tcc/od solenoid. check all wiring and sensors for damage, and does it have any codes in the PCM?
