Subject: replacement 265/70/16 tires IP: Logged
Message: It's time for new tires on my 01 4x4 and I've narrowed it down to 3 wanted to see if anyone is running any of these and what they thought of them, tires are: Bridgestone dueler A/T revo, Michelin cross terrain suv, and Goodyear fortera HL edition, I use my truck 98% on road and am looking for a good quiet ride with long tread life. Thanks

Message: I'm running BFG All Terrain TA/KO in 265/70-16 on my '02 4x4 and I've found them to actually be quite quiet, in spite of a reasonably aggressive tread pattern. Mine have about 12K on them and still look new. Just another option.

Message: How did changing to the BFGs affect your gas mileage?
With gas prices jumping 7 cents in the last 3 days, I'm more and mroe concerned with how far I can go on a gallon of gas.

Message: I wouldn't get the Goodyears if I were you all of Goodyears I've ever been associated with have been crap, I've talked to a few guys running Yokohama Geolanders and they like them.

Message: If long trrad life and good all season performance is your goal then go with the Michelins. Michelins have the best quality control and they build a better daily driver tire. If off road performance is more impotant then get the BFG Duelers but do not expect the long tread life you tend to get with Michelins. Stay away from Goodyears!!! I have had two sets of Goodyear Wranglers and they were junk!!! I have also owned goodyear on some sports cars and they just do not hold up very wheel. I prefer the desert dueler for most of my off roading. The desert dealers were OEM on my 86 Toyota and I got 50,000 off of them and drove it on the Autobahn at 115mph daily.

Message: My gas mileage is the same with the BFG AT's. As for tread life, I have friends that have gotten 50-75,000 miles on a set of BFG AT's.

Message: Thanks for the feedback, like I said I hardly EVER go off-road anymore so I'm looking for a tire with a highway tread, the goodyear wrangler rts's on my 01 have about 34,000 on them now and they have very little tread left, truck is starting to get scary driving in the rain. I know a lot of the low tread has to do with spinning the crap out of them but I have to resist that urge with the new tires. The michelins have the highest tread rating (700) out of the 3 I listed but I know that's when tested in a lab but any of these 3 should last longer than the stock goodyears that were rated at 340.I don't consider the BFG's I know they're a good all terrain but I don't need that kind of tire, plus they hydroplane very easily, yokohama tires ( from past experience) tend to be a very soft tire and they don't seem to last long. These are my opinions on the tires I listed you may have different experiences but like I said these are my opinions. Brian, how are the revos in the wet and as far as noise? thanks again all

Message: After researching on tirerack.com and looking the survey results I was going to put a set of Bridgestone Revo’s on my QC 4x4. But I could not find a set of 265/70/16 locally and would have had to wait 4 to 6 weeks for them to come in. I opted for the Michelin LTX M/S. Like you, I do not travel off road that often and drive 350 to 400 highway miles a week so, I was going for tires with a less aggressive tread pattern that would give me a quiet drive. So far I’m very happy with the tires. However, if the Revo’s had been available I would have gone with them. There’s always next time!

Message: To the contrary, my BFG's All Terrain TA KO's are awesome in the rain. The badyear's were scary with full tread. I've hit standing water at a high rate of speed with the BFG's and it's like you are on dry pavement.
