Subject: cat in california??? IP: Logged
Message: i went ot a couple of muffler shops in long beach Ca. today and i wanted to get my cat replaced with a high flow cat and both places said that it was impossble to do and they wanted about 400 to replace it with some stock type replacement cat. I wasn't even sure why? i wanted to replace it with a high flow and they said they couldn't do it. are they trying to get me for some money or are they right. can you use a high flow cat in cali???? help the rattling is killing me

Message: In California in fact I think anywhere if the car does nto have over 50 000 miles they CANNOT legally touch the cat converter. its a federal law. its supposed to be returned to the dealer to be replaced. Doesnt mean it isnt replaced
I have a guy that I go to and he installs all sorts of exhaust systems.

$20 and he will do it, they're just afraid they'll
get caught cutting it. i payed some guy at
eagle muffler and brakes to put in my
carsound cat for $40 (at 15,000 miles)
