 Subject: Finally Picked Up My 2001 DAK QC

Yes!...orderd 3/19, dropped off 4/29, found bed out of alignment, no under-coating in rear wheel wells, two of four fender flares chipped, those issues were taken care of, and I picked up my 2001 Flame Red QC/AWD/4.7/Auto/3.92/LS/4W-ABS...everything but leather and towing.
The dealer took care of the issues I found during pre-prep inspection and all passed after post-prep inspection and test drive, and then I felt comfortable signing the papers.
All badges and console light are missing (has console power outlet)...no B&M to the dealer but I will get the v8 badges and two free oil changes and wash.
SWEET!!! What a ride compared to my 1998 Sahara and 1998 Voyager mini-van, in all areas!
Now ready to start ordering mods and tonneau cover with sport wing (bye-bye refund check!)
BTW, I should now be a registered member...

Well, either I missed it all together, or the factory missed it and didn't install it, or its another DC 'cost cutting' move:
I have no underhood light (I know the Sport+ isn't suppose to have hood insulation)
So, no badges, console light (where is that suppose to go?), and now no hood light...thoughts?
Anyhow, did 3 short drives, total of 23 miles....SWEET!!!

The 2001's don't have "motor" badges on the fender, I would say feel lucky (no holes if you wanted to go badgeless). I have also heard that the '01's aren't coming w/ underhood lights. There was someone on the DML that had problems w/ no console light also. Some suggestions were, check fuses, bulbs,etc. Also some say that it is really dim when it does light up, so you may have it but just can't see it in the daylight???

I posted a few days ago concerning these missing items, and I've found out :
The badges are indeed NOT included on any 2001.
The under-hood light is no longer an available item.
The under-hood insulation has been yanked mid-year (some dealers have said that it is due to engine heat, and one admitted that it was likely another one of those annoying "cost-consideration" issues).
The "center-console light" was never there, says the dealer, but according to close scrutinization of both the DC catalog, and the build sheet, it is listed as being INCLUDED WITH THE BUCKET SEAT CONSOLE. The salesjerk claimed that the sizable void in the lid of my console was a "tissue-holder". BS. The "light group" includes fog lights, lights for the overhead console, cargo area (integrated into the third brake light), glove box, and the ash tray.
I'll be returning to the dealer to claim my missing console light, and HEY... at least I scored the 22 gallon fuel tank before it metamorphisized into the MUCH MORE sensible 20 gallon version (*quack*).

Are you saying that DC is installing 20 gal. tanks in place of 24 gal. tanks ?
The reason I ask, is the other day I filled my nearly empty tank on my 2001 QC and was just short of adding 20 gallons. I called DC after reading your post to verify what was in my truck, by the VIN, and was told there was a 24 gal. tank in it. It seemed odd at the time at the gas station that it only took just short of 20 gallons. If this is the case I will have the dealer order the 24 gal. tank and replace the 20 gal tank.
They called me the other day to tell me the missing hood insulator is in and ready to be installed.

No. The 20 gallon will replace the 22 gallon that currently is on the regular and Club cabs.
Your Quad has the 24. Don't think they'll change that.
Remember, even when the gauge reads empty, there's still at least a couple of gallons in it.
By the way, if you have any information that you can give me regarding HOW you managed to get the dealer to give you the hood insulation, PLEASE let my know. I'm missing that, too - as well as the console light, but my dealer (McPeek's in Anaheim, Ca.) is being less than helpful.

Had me goin on the tank issue. Thanks for setting me straight on that one.
At first, I thought I was going to have a problem with the dealer regarding the insulation. I asked him to look in the 2001 Dak sales brochure on page 29 (back fold out page) under the SLT Decor Group and told him it clearly states that the hood insulation is included in this package. He had no grounds to deny it. He had to order it. Anycase, you should do the same. If this dealer wants to be difficult, you may want to try another dealer. After all, it's not the dealer's fault, it id DC's lack of communications.
As for the console light, are you talking about the little one uner the dash that lights up the center console (cup holders)? If not, where is the one located that you are talking about ?

Tank issue:
If you have the 22 gallon tank, when the overhead console and the gauge reads empty there is still 4 gallons in there. I guess its for people who are to dumb to get gas before the overhead console says 0 dte and the guage says empty.

The missing light should be located under the lid of the arm rest section.
I'll try another dealer - there's plenty to choose from here - but I will commence arbitration over the missing items if I find that I have to.
I know it seems minor, but these items are listed in the brochure, and although there is a microscopic disclaimer on the bottom of the page "reserves the right to change specifications without notice or without incurring obligation, blah blah blah...", It's my opinion that the highly-trained FLEET MANAGER should pass this information along to the consumer.
We'll see.....
