 Subject: TROUBLE CODES

Hey Guys,
I need some info on the trouble codes,Is their any way to find out what the code is without going to the dealer or Buying the code scanner.
Is there a way to get it to flash the code on the dash? I've tried the "turn the ignition on and off twice then on after 5 seconds" thing but it didn't work. I know on GM trucks you can get the codes to flash when you bridge the pins on the diaognostics connecter, I was wondering if its the same for DODGE. I have a 98 CC 4x4 with the 5.2l. Any info i can get would be great thanks.

Autozone will scan codes for you for free. Just keep an eye on them while they're doing it, the guy that scanned my car neglected to scroll down and show me the rest of the fault codes on the system. The generally have an OBDII scanner that will erase codes as well, so if you think you've fixed it but the codes don't go away, take it back and try it again.

Agree on the autozone suggestion.
But, I think it's turn the key 3 times, not 2. Worked for me.

any help eracing trouble codes on 2000 dakota QC. i had p-0443/p-1491 fixed the 1491 but need help with the p-0443/ any help is greatly appreciated.

HAD P-0443 TROUBLE CODE FOR EVAP PURGE SOLENOID CIRCUIT SHORTED. TOOK TO THE DEALER AS THEY TOLD ME ANY EMISSIONS RELATED PROBLEM IS COVERED UNDER 8 YEAR 80,000 MILE WARRANTY. GUESS WHAT IT IS NOT. THEY TOLD ME THE HARNESS IS SHORTED SOMEWHERE AND THAT IS NOT COVERED. TO BELIEVE THIS ONLY AFTER 43,000 MILES OF SERVICE. AND NO CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE FROM DODGE. IF ANYONE HAS A WIRING SCHEMATIC OF THIS EVAP PURGE SYSTEM FOR 2000 DAKOTA 4.7L THAT WOULD BE OF GREAT HELP. THANKS STEVE

How did you fix the 1491 code problem? I just bought a 2000 RT with the same code. Short or a open circuit in the rad. relay? Any info would be much appreciated.
