I got the green light for covering my Dak's bed. In the Northwest, we call them canopies, in California, they're called shells, and elsewhere they're called caps.
Anyway - which brands/styles do you like best?
Best quality?

I've got a Snugtop "cab-Hi" shell that I bought new in '93. 210,000 mi. on it from my '92 Dak, and 40,000 more mounted on my '01. It's been painted twice (blue after 5 years, black in '01), survived 2 wrecks, and not a single stress-crack. The 3 things I like the best are the single back window handle that submerges when locked, the built-in rubber boot, and the 6 "J" hooks that use 1/2" socket. Helps gas mileage and is very stable at highway speeds. Couldn't be happier.

I have a 'leer' cab high, makes it look like streched Durango on my Quad cab.
I'm happy with it as well. The make a model, seen in the catalog that has window that are fartehr down, making it more 'suv' looking.

I just added a Century Hi-C to my 00 CC 4x4.
Fits great, perfect color match (even on my Driftwood paint, supposedly hard to match) and good quality. Just under $1000.

I've a '98 Dak-CC, with a cab-hi white fiberglass shell/topper "Floridaline", great cap with sliding windows, dual locking rear window, 3rd brake lite, and its FOR SALE...

I have a LEER, but would not recommend them. Look great but have problem with the latches and locks. I would probably try A.R.E. next time....

A.R.E. Z-series here, been on for a year, no probs. Had one on my last p'up for 10 years with no probs.

I have a Snug-Top. At the time they were the only company that had the options that I wanted, and am very happy overall with their product. I have had some issues with the one local dealer left in the north puget sound area. I did not puchase the top from them and they treated me like crap!!! I had to have a window replace after a brake in, the only way to get it fixed was to remove the top and send it back to sug-top. That was fine, but because I was not their customer, they would barley give me the time of day. And now the canapy leaks like a sive.....
If you decide on a canapy, look hard at the dealer that will service it.
If you need a snug-top in the Puget Sound area try the dealer in the South. Auburn I think. The only other one is in Everett. They are the ones that I had problems with.
Seems to be a lot more LEER and ARE dealers out there.

I have a white Snug Top 6ft for a CC Dakota , Sliding windows all around. I want to sell it if anyone is interested. $300 OBO. It is in great shape. New in 98 I had it off in my garage for 3yrs and recently put it on my truck. I also have a carpet kit as well. I live in Southern California.

I had an ASTRO cap on my 97 club cab 4x4 with no problems other than some leakage. I now have a LEER 100XL cap with a rack on my 2000 QC 4x4. It's sweet and I get alot of comments on the looks.

I have a Glasstite cap. I love it. Lots of compliments. I live in Oregon and we've always called them "caps." Canopie must be specific to your area of the NW. Good luck.
