Subject: 92 4x4 vibration IP: Logged
Message: I have a 92 4x4 that vibrates when I am accelerating. U joints are good and the tires are brand new. I think it is in the rear end but am not sure (I have no experience with rear ends). Does anyone know how much the driveshaft should rotate when it is parked? Does this signify pinion gear wear?

Message: How new are the tires, and does it smmoth out or does it get worse. The tires are not always perfect and you could have lost a weight used for balancingthe tires in the tire store. M ydrive shaft turns about 1/4 inch when parked and i have a 94'. I am not sure how much it is suppossed to move.

Message: I think I have a couple of thousand miles on the tires. I had them rebalanced after the vibration started. It seems to smooth out at higher speeds, like at 60 MPH. I am thinking it is something in the rear end. My drive shaft turns almost a quarter turn.
