Message: I installed the factory auto dim mirror/ compass overhead in my 99 dakota. It wasnt too bad ... the wire harness didnt have the connectors so i had to add them. I went to a junkyard.. found a dakota that had the over head... ripped the headliner out and traced the wires back to the main connectors under the dash... pulled the pins out of the connectors and marked down where in the connector it was pluged... found the connector under my dash and plugged the pins back in... and that was it... not too bad.. a friend of mine owns the junk yard so i got the wires and everytign for free.. :)

Message: I recently purchased a 2003 quad cab. It’s fully loaded but didn’t come with the elusive overhead computer. After reading most of the postings. I was able to obtain an overhead computer on Ebay. I’m interested in hardwiring the overhead computer. The only option in the computer that I am interested in is the compass and outside temperature sensor. The computer I have has four wires attached to it. I know that one wire is the constant power, the second is ground and the third is the ignition power. I’m not sure what the forth is I’m assuming it the Outside temp reading. I got the compass to work but cant figure out how to get the outside temp to work. My truck came with a senor for outside temp. The senor has two wire going into it. How can I hardwire my over head computer so that my outside temp works. Also does anybody know what PCI bus stands for, and were can I find it in my truck. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Message: I emailed him and it bounced. I'm not sure if he ever comes back here, but if so, I would really appreciat seeing that schematic as well. I even emailed Augie to find out if he ever got his working, and haven't heard anything from him. I am going to talk to a Dodge mechanic and ask him where I can tap into the PCI bus--if/when I find out something, I'll let you know.

Message: There are only 4 wires to the evic. The colors of the wires will be different depending on where you get the EVIC plug from. But 3 of them are 12v+, 12v+ switched, and 12v-. Those are easy and self explanatory. The last is the PCI bus. I tapped into the PCI bus at the CTM, which is in the lower left door panel (had 3 big connectors in it). My PCI bus wire color was purple with a yellow stripe; yours may be different. You can tap into it anywhere; it gets the signals it needs anywhere on the bus.

Message: Well you should look in your owners manual, it talks about several ways that you can change how it reads. ( by where you are located in the u.s.) but whatever you do DO NOT re-calibrate it. that is what i did and now it is stuck in calibration mode, i cannot seem to get it out of that mode. i think that i need to hook up the final 2 wires to the computer so that it has other readings and hopefully it will allow the compass to reset.
hope that this was helpfull, if you have any advice please post it. Like if you know how to hook up the console to the computer!

Message: I installed a 99 overhead console in my 04 Dakota. It came with
the factory wire harness that runs down the A piller but the end
was cut off. Can someone please tell me how to hook up the 6
wires I have. This is what I know so far...
Black w/ Brown tracer = Ground
Blue w/White tracer = 12v
2 of the wires go to the temp sensor in the engine compartment.
What color wire goes to the data port?
Please help....
