 Subject: need info/help on how to replace door

I'm the original owner of a '93 LE and I have just discovered the welds that hold the lower hinge to the drivers door have broken. I stopped by the neighborhood body shop and they said it would be safer(and cheaper) to install a replacement door from a salvage yard then for them to try and weld the hinge back.
On the surface it looks like an easy project but I've never tried anything like this before.Any help or words of wisdom would be appreciated.
