Subject: Apparently a clear liquid leaking?? IP: Logged
Message: 99 Dak 3.9L 56k miles. The weather has been in the mid 60’s around here, I park the truck in the garage. I came home for lunch today and noticed a clear (didn’t appear to be coolant) liquid dripping fairly consistently from underneath my truck. It was in the area just forward and to the right of the tranny. Almost directly under the wiper fluid bottle. I thought maybe it was the wiper fluid bottle, but it does not seem to be going down, and I cannot see the leak anywhere from above? Just below. Any Ideas?
Thx,
Robert

Message: If your truck is 4x4, it may be the so called, "pressure relief" valve, or somethin like that. I noticed mine was leakin onto the chassis today in the fender well, i also noticed some clear liquid like as you described, that i am kinda unsure about, i sniffed it, and didnt smell like oil or diff fluid, so, im sure someone will know, ttyl, L8R

Message: I'm thinking A/C condensation drip tube. It's on the r/s at the firewall, can't see it from above, is clear, not oily, AND depending on the "tilt" of the truck when parked will not drip or will drip....Just my $.02.

Message: Its was parked on a tottaly level surface when I noticed it today. I am not sure how long, or how often this has been happening, I just got the truck less than a week ago.
Would the AC thing drip like that even when I am yet to even turn the AC on?
The truck was warmed up .. i drove it about 10 miles home from work, then parked it and noticed this.

Message: Rpeck, The drip tube on the Dak's are kinda funny. Mine hardily drips unless I'm level front to back and tilting to the right....then she gushes.... the compressor/ ac runs even when the heat/defrost is on....keeps the interior glass from steaming/fogging up....another thing the consider is "did you wash the truck alot"... water will get in the dangest places and drip when it shouldn't... another thing comes to mind when thinking about water in all the wrong places.....not sure on the 99 but have seen on some where the tube drips onto the frame and runs toward the back on the truck to drip out some other strange place or evaporate....also check the floor board inside, carpet should be dry, not damp and not oily..... make sure the rad is full and top off the over flow bottle and then mark it with magic marker and keep a eye on it over the next couple of days...coolant doesn't evaporate...depending on engine temp the level will be higher when hot and lower when cold... when you mark it, it should be cold and no air pockets...if you top off the rad and top off the over flow the level will go down somewhat because of the low rad level...yes I know you topped it off but that's due to an air pocket...level will stabilize...then you can see if it holds that level at that temp.... Let me know how it goes.

Message: Thanks for the help fellas.
I am pretty sure its not coolant. I took a look and the resivor & rad. they are topped off, and the coolant has a pretty 'strong' green color to it... so I am sure I would have seen the green in it on my garage floor had it been coolant. I will mark it and keep an eye on it just to be safe. I did give it a good bath this weekend, hopefully it is just water from the washing .. that would be delightful. Though i did not wash under the hood at all I spose some water could have creeped in there. I am leaning towards that AC condenser thing as the culprit right now, that just seems to make the most sense.
I will keep you all posted on what I find out for sure.

Message: Everytime I've something like this, it's been A/C condensation dripping off from the A/C. Coolant would be [bright] green, wiper fluid blue, oil would be oily, and tranny fluid would be red. Not much else left.

Message: I am sure that it is the ac drain tube, if your floors are wet, sometimes the drain tube becomes clogged or dislodged
