I have a 94 v-8 Dakota. Sometimes in the middle of driving, it slows down (my foot is constant on the acellerator) and then thrusts forward. It feels like gas isn't getting to the engine and then it all comes gushing in at once. I also hear a clunk from underneath the truck sometimes.

It was doing this in the summer and then I started giving it some carbeurator cleaner and it has been fione for a couple of months. Then, it's starting to do it again. It even does it on cruise control...drives fine for many miles, then slows down and then kicks in....

Any ideas?
Thanks

My 1998 318 5speed did the same thing. I think it was the fuel filter.

Yep fuel problem. Do the filter first. Call Autozone and they will tell you where it is and sell you one for sure.
