Subject: tire sizes IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, I have a stupid question here. I got my dakota with the tire and handling package on a 01 v6 sport club cab. so that meant it has the bigger tires. I was just wondering if they are like 30's or 31's. I compared them to a 2000 1500 and they were bigger. Any answers would be great!!

Message: I think they are somewhere inbetween 30 and 31. They are a metric size, 265/70R16(?) if I am not mistaken.

Message: The 265/70R16 is a 30.61" tall tire. I used the Tire calulator on the DML

Message: That's the 4x4 T/H tire. The 4x2 has 255/65R16.
Here's how to calculate the diameter.
Sidewall height is width x aspect ratio:
255 x .65 = 165.75mm
(255mm /25.4 = 10" wide tire)
times two because 2 sidewall heights over diameter of tire:
165.75 x 2 = 331.5mm
convert to inches:
331.5 / 25.4 = 13.05"
add to wheel diameter to obtain overall tire diameter:
13.05" + 16" = 29.05"
Similarly, for the 4x4's 265/70R16
(265 x .7 x 2 / 25.4) + 16" = 30.6"
(265mm / 25.4 = 10.43" wide tire)
Hope that helps,
Cheers ;-)

Message: if it is a 2wd the stock tire size with the tire handeling package is 255/65 r16. That equals 29.1 x 10. The 4wd came with larger tires so it will be different.
