I have an 02 Dakota clubcab 4.7 liter 5speed with a 3.55 tracklock rear end. I am looking to do some towing this summer and would like to know how much weight some of you have towed and how it worked out with a similar set up. I am looking to tow my 79 camaro which weighs about 3800 lbs. and a trailer that is about 1800 lbs. I believe the manual says that for my model the limit is 5400 lbs. I know I would be over by 200 lbs or so, but I'm sure some of you have towed even more. Just curious and interested in hearing some of your stories. Thanks. Mike

Dude, I pulled that same weight with a V6 for over 40K miles on logging roads. You will not have a problem.

yeah dude I have a 2 wheel drive 5 speed 5.2 98 model with of course the towing package. I pulled my 5,000 lb boat over a moutian with no problem in 4th gear doin about 65 at the top.
