 Subject: Lets Steel Braid these Bad Boys

Got a good question for you guys, i had to pull all of my abs stuff to make room for my shocks, and now i need to replace the lines, my local hot rod shop can make me hard lines no prob, but i'd prefer to go with steel braided ones. anyone know where i can get a kit, or someone who makes the adapters for that funny 10 & 12mm we have in there? Iknow that earls makes a 10mm, but i can't find the 12. I'm looking for help of any kind, but i need them in my hot little hands by the begining of next week, so i can get this beast on the road.

I know Knobby found a company that made steel-braided brake lines that he needed after adding his lift, drop him an email.

I got some Braided lines made at a local hotrod shop... You might look around at some shops that fill NOS, I just happen to know a local shop that makes them, in just about any color you want... got my front and rear set (rear disc conversion) for like $70.00 I know that fabtech sells just the front lines for over $100.00 email me at mxblue23 @ aol.com if you need any more info.

I have also been looking for brake lines but have not been able to find any that are DOT approved.
I read Knobby's post and he stated that his were not DOT either.
How important is it to be DOT approved?
Are we risking any warenty issues?
Are we risking any legal issues?
Granted I don't know any cop that is going to check for a DOT lable and then shake his finger at you as he right you a ticket, I just want to know all repercussions of my actions.

the lines I was looking for go from the master cylinder to the frame, and I just bought hard-line replacements from a hot rod shop, they should be done by friday, and i'll let everyone know how they went in.

You MUST use DOT-approved brake lines for all vehicles used on-road. DOT-approved SS brake lines have labels on them identifying them as such.
If you have some SS braided brake lines made by your local Rice-O-Rocket shop and you get into any kind of accident that is investigated, you are liable to be DEKCUF (spell this backwards for full effect) big time.
Remember, brakes are almost always involved - and investigated - in practically every type of vehicular crash. In today's sucky economy, insurance companies are looking for every little microscopic loophole they can find to weedle their way out of paying claims.
If there is ANY kind of investigation or serious repair done by a reputable shop, your vehicle will be subject to investigation (which leaves it in spread out, in neat little piles all over some shop floor) and seizure (if it's determined you have illegal SS brake lines) for evidence. Your insurance company will disown (oh, and they won't pay) you and the other party's insurance will have you for lunch; not to mention you probably would have your a$$ sued off (and your friendly local Rice-O-Rocket shop will stop being so friendly).
We're talking about BRAKES here - ya know, the things that make you stop before ploughing into really hard things that can kill you and your Dak - or others!
Oh, and did I mention your warranty? You can kiss that friendship goodbye, too, since no one is protected when using illegal parts.
This is one area where one should NOT mess around with rebuilt, knockoff, or non-DOT-approved parts.

The problem I ran into when I was going to get Braided Steel hoses was no one had the fittings that were DOT aproved.. The one place that did have them wasn't DOT aproved so I ended up just getting the rubber hoses. (I needed them longer)
I do agree though make sure you get aproved hoses.
