Subject: Installing 12v outlet IP: Logged
Message:
My father bought an 01 regular cab dakota when it was new to use for working. Well, last year he gave the truck to me. The truck doesn't have the extra 12v power outlet. The panel right there just has a little notch in it basically saying that one goes there. I want to put one in there but I have no clue how to get that panel out. Does anyone know how to get that panel out cause I really need a power outlet there?

Message: I'am not sure if the interior of my 99 is the same as your 01. But here is how to get to the panel on the 99
To remove the panel with the cigarete lighter you must first remove other panels to gain access to all of the screws.
Begin by removing the trim around the radio. That just pops out.
Next remove the trim under the steering wheel. There are just a few screws holding this in near the bottom.
Now remove the ashtray to expose a couple of screws.
There are a couple of screws hidden inside the trim of the glove box also.
There are two screws on the bottom of the panel you want to remove also.
I think I covered all of them. It's a pain but it is not hard as long as you are patient.
