Subject: 4.7L Dyno Results-Impressive Torque IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, we just did a dyno day here in Houston at RSI out in Westheimer/Hwy 6 area. I went with a group of R/T friends amongst some really sweet cars. Good deal of S2000's, some new 350Z's, and a new Turbo GT Stang putting 400 horses down in total sleeper trim. Steve Feiler at Sincity will probably have my pics up soon and I'll post the links. Anyway here is my mod list:
HO Cams
70mm Fastman Throttle Body
K&N Cone on factory airhat
Exhaust chopped after y-pipe and precats - Borla going on soon.
My horsepower numbers were about as expected, but my torque was very good, to me anyway.
Uncorrected:
230 rwhp 306 rwtq
Corrected:
220 rwhp 293 rwtq
Going by 15% drivetrain losses with a 5speed, that puts me at 360 Lb-Ft of Torque at the engine. I was quite impressed with this number for my mods. I dynoed as much torque as an R/T with M1 and other bolt ons, headers, rockers etc.

Message: Grady,
Gives me a good idea, as we have about the exact same mods.
However, could you have put the 'corrected' and 'uncorrected' interchanged? I thought they were supposed to be better corrected? And what was the 15% add to the HP?
01, QC, 4.7, 5spd, HO cams, ported 68mm TB, home brew air with K&N, no belt fan, IAT adjuster,
Nice #'s!

Message: His corrected numbers are lower than his non-corrected due to the low temps in Houston at the time. Corrected is 'standard conditions', which I believe is 65-70F (?) + xx% humidity + xx.xx barometric pressure... can't remember off hand. Running on a colder day can give higher numbers, whereas on a hot day-- we all know the vehicles give lower numbers. That goes without saying-- when people post super duper low times at the track, especially on the east coast-- they were done on 50 F or MUCH cooler days... Those same people running in PHX or LAS can't seem to back up the times-- or run much slower. n20 guys seem to run similar to their native area-- they bring the cool with them :)
Grady's torque numbers are high due to the 5spd... it makes a big difference-- especially when you can get a dyno pull from idle to redline in 4th gear-- lets you see the grunt at the lower rpms, not affected by a 2nd-drive shift the autos experience (though I did get a drive from idle pull with my RT-- next day the tranny broke, guess it was a sign of what to come...hehe)
Good run's grady!
Sam

Message: I thought that may be the case. So, they correct either way it goes, to Room temperature?

Message: Those are very good numbers Grady. I've got some of the same mods as you, but unfortunately with an automatic. Of course, I ordered it with the auto, so it's my own fault :) You should be able to put down some pretty impressive times if/when you take it to the strip.

Message: Thanks Demon, if you look back at my post I put in my quickest run of 14.997 That was with no muffler but a cat, 3 cats you know the deal. How did you run a 14.5?? That is very quick for your mods. Was this at a real cold night? Did you have slicks?

Message: Hey QwikKota,
Those are really good numbers. Do you have a dyno sheet you could post or email me? It'd be much appreciated. This is the first dyno run I've heard of with just the HO cams without the HO Intake. good work!
