Message: Do not get the V6 or the 5.9 V8 if you can help it. The 4.7V8 is the hot ticket for the quad cab. Try to get 3.92:1 gear ratio in the rear end and the tow package and heavy duty service group. The AWD system should be fine. They are a bit less durable then partime systems and eat a bit more gas but that is about it.

Message: I agree with both of the above post V6 sucks in the quad cab. Not much get up. Im a voluteer firefighter living 3+ miles away from the station and have trouble makin it there in time for a truck. As for the 5.9 that would be the one to get if I wish to convert it to a R/T, correct?

Message: The 4.7 is adequate in the 4X4 QC, but I prefer the 5.9. My QC weighs 5200# with me in it. I have the 5.9 and my dad has the 4.7. Gas mileage is about the same, mine might be slightly better but I do have a couple of small mods. Power, well I test drove the 4.7 and felt it was gutless with the 3.55's and felt it would have of been worse towing. The 3.92's would help alot and I wish even my 5.9 had them for towing through the West Virginia mountains on my way to Florida.
Test drive both.

Message: I have an 02 QC 4WD with the 4.7 and love it.
Get the V8 not the V6.
As for SLT Plus vs Sport Plus, 4.7 vs 5.9, auto vs manual; full-time vs part-time 4WD, 3.55 vs 3.91 and other options ... that's up to you.
You won't go wrong. Let us know what you get.

Message: I have the full time transfer case and the 4.7 and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have only heard the people who don't have the full time have negitive comments about it. But I never heard someone who does have full time say anything negitive about it. In fact everyone whom I have spoke to that has full time loves it myself included. I guess it depends on the conditions you drive in and the type of driving you do. I live in a cold climate and in those situations where part time 4wd isn't practical these are the times the full time shines. Never once have I had the rear end break loose on me on wet pavement. But in the 2wd setting with the part time transfer case you can bet your rear tires will break loose on wet pavement. I just believe it is a more refined setup and is intended for people who do mostly road driving and little off road.

Message: I'd like to throw in, that in my 01 Quad, I also have the 4.7, and trailer towing group, and
the 5spd manual! It may not be available with your set-up though. And although it's a very personal, touchy subject here, I feel the manual tranny is the way to go.
good luck and enjoy your new dak!

Message: That price is unbelievably low. I order a QC SLT+ 4x4 4.7L Auto, every option, except I didn't want leather. Invoice minus $2K rebate minus the entire 3% holdback, even minus delivery and advertising fees, still amounts to more than $22,000. and that is before taxes. At that price you should be buying them and driving them across the border and making a few thou a truck.

Message: I have to agree with Clark, the $22K price is unbeleivable, especially in Canadian $$$. I could sure use some help on dealer pricing on the sport plus 26c pkg. Dealer says cost is $1720 (kelly blue book says $1324). Dealer says cost on 5sp auto is $1030 (kelly says $924). Can anybody who bought a 2003 help? I think he's greasing me for an extra $500 and I walked. Now they won't return my calls! BTW, I go to Vancouver often and love it!!!

Message: The sport plus package (26c or 28c) is $1865 CANADIAN(US $1212). They didnt move on that at all. But they had room to move on the other options. With your guys US dollar here in Canada you would be smart to check into what is involved in buying a truck in canada. I here of alot of people doing it, especially on trucks.

Message: Thanks for the reply, Ender. I'm sick of dealing with these Dodge dealers. I lost out on the $500 holiday cash in Dec and now the price is more. They say new incentives are coming out Feb 28th. I'm almost to the point of looking at used stuff. I was looking at WRX's and Rubicon's and they wanted top $$ because they are hot and in demand. This is the last year for this style Dakota and the shoe should be on the other foot now. I don't mind the dealer making a decent profit, but Dakota's aren't selling that great now. Like you I want to order one to my specs. Anyone heard what the new incentive pkg might be?

Message: Back in OCT I paid $24,000 US for a 4.7 Club Cab Sport Plus 4x4, 355gears, 5 speed manual, 16' tires, heavy duty pkg, overhead console, skid plates, bed liner, and towing pkg.
I thought this was a good price and i felt lucky to find a decent color (silver) on the last day of the month. First I was able to talk the salesman down to this price and then I told him that I would buy it if he would give me blue book value on my trade in. HE really wanted to sell me this truck and I really wanted to get the 0% financing for 5 years 8D. This saved me a lot of money in the long run. I used my trade in as downpayment and kept my money in the bank where it belongs.
22,000 sounds like you raped these guys and usually when you order a vehicle, you pay for it. YOu must be paying mucho interest for that thing. Im paying NO interest hehe:)

Message: Yes, I was talking before tax, title&license. We have 8% sales tax (ouch!) here in Austin,Tx. But we have no state income tax...a great deal! I guess I'll just wait until after Feb 28 and see what the new deal will be. Hope my El Camino holds up.

Message: I would HIGHLY advise anyone living in the US considering purchasing a Dodge car or truck from Canada to NOT DO IT!
Chrysler WILL NOT honor any warranty of a vehicle intended for Canada in the US. I went through this problem for months with my 2000 Intrepid. That thing was falling apart, and it only had 28k miles on it! Chrysler flat-out refused every warranty claim, and that was there reason-Canadian vehicles (car or truck) in the US are NOT covered at all (too many dealers buying vehicles and making a killing in the $ conversion).
Be warned.........
