I have a 92 Dakota. Recently I received a nice dent in the passenger side fender of the bed. I need to take it off to fix the dent and I was wondering if the Gen III bed fenders will fit on the Gen II bed. Its a short bed and I would like to do this swap. Has anybody ever tried this before?

Thanks
Dan

Interesting idea, Daktrep. I don't know about the fenders, but I do know for a fact that the inside bed measurements on a short bed GenII are identical to those of a GenIII. I know because a put my '93 Snugtop shell on my '01. The only mod was to bend the bottom lip on the back window to match the bow shape on the GenIII tailgate. You might end up with a "visual mismatch" since the GenIII is wider on the outside, and the fenderwells are so much bigger than a GenII. But what the heck, fill 'em up with some 285/60/16's!

I took rough measurements today and everything seem to match except the wheelwell. I will keep everybody updated. I could also, use a set of CHEAP R/T wheels if anybody has a set.

Thanks
Dan

Why not just buy a used Gen III bed???
At least the tail-lights would match!

I would get the entire bed but it's too expensive. I can get used fenders for $100 each side. Most beds are around $1000 I have seen. Or I have found them cheaper but then they have to be shipped. I would rather change the entire bed but can't find one and probably can't afford one if I did find it.
