Subject: What Tranny? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 73' 360 with the trans still attached how do i find out what the trans is. where are the numbers? where can i find out? Oh yeah, it came out of a camper.

Message: The full part# is stamped into the edge of the flange the pan attaches to. Its on the drivers side, but might be kinda hard to read while mounted up.
If you cant see it to read it, you might try this... clean the area good, get a piece of paper, and use a pencil to shade over it.
I'm pretty sure that trannys a good ole 727 Tqflt.

Message: Depends on what you want and what engine you have.
What you won't get is an overdrive gear, meaning you'll have to change your rearend gears to get any sort of good highway milage.
If it doesn't bolt up, you might be able to buy a new bellhousing that'll work. As far as which dak engines will directly take the 727... maybe someone else can help with that one.
