I have a 2001 dakota bought it brand new(3.5months and I have 13000miles.) The first month I had in at the dealer four times for a total of about a week. 1st prob. some clicking noise out of the front end(repaired dealer said a bolt stripped that holds the brake lines to the upper control arm.) 2nd same prob 1week later, the dealer replaced the both of the upper control arms cuz the hole on the control arm was stripped not the bolt.) 3rd prob at about 10-13mph the truck would hesitate something like it was shifting or about to stall. If you tried to cruise at 10-13 it do it until you sped up past 10-13? Dealer said they replaced govenor in trans and fixed it. Yeah for about 2 weeks started acting up again. Not to bad at first but now it is doing the same thing? I really love my truck I just hate the probs I am having. I am thinking of torching this thing if the dealer can't fix the problem? Any suggestions? Anyone else own 2001 club cab slt v6 with similar problems. Any help would be appreciated?

Wes

I have almost the same problem with my 2001 dakota quad cab with an automatic. I have not tried crusing at 10 MPH but when I am coming to a stop the truck will give a sudden surge at that point. It is not much of a surge but is noticable. I had it into the dealer and they told me it was just the transmission down shifting. I don't know if that is true or not. I had a 92 firebird that would do the same thing and they relearned the idle and it took care of the problem. Also, I went to put the truck into drive the other day from park and it died on me.

I have had some problems with my '01.
First, recall on transfer case, they had to reprogram something.
Second, the front part of the flares on the rear tires seem to be losing paint. THey said its from rocks and/or salt (because i drive to tahoe all the time). I think it is because the flares are plastic and they f-d up.
Third, the carpet on the drivers side by the door, stated getting wet after it rained. Turns out it had a leak near the back window, they had to take out the back window and do some body work to fix the problem.
Fourth, the damn speaker right next to my head was making a light crackling noise after I would drive for a while. Even with the volume off and away from that speaker, it makes the noise. I am getting that fixed right now. They say its the deck because it should have no power going to it, but still makes that damn noise. It took me forever to replicate the sound while they were around.

I know what you're going through. We bought ours brand new and it was in the shop 3 times in the first month. The radio clock quit working 2 days off the lot, and there is a vacuum hose that keeps coming loose, while driving 60-65mph the truck acts like its switching gears, and we've just replaced the clutch fan-which apparently never worked correctly. I love Dodge but this truck has made me rethink Chevy!

I have also had some troubles with my 2001 dodge dakota full cab.
I've had to replace my transmission twice.
Numerous noises.
Sometimes it shuts off on me when I switch from P to R or P to D.
Many numerous problems too..

Mine is paid off so I'm just waiting on it to die before I get a new
car which shouldn't be long because I have 170,000 miles on it.
