Subject: Steering column clicking/play IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, love this site. I've got a 2001 Dakota R/T delivered in
mid 2000. About 58k on it, This is a very well maintained
vehicle. I cover it every night. : )
I had the usual factory re-calls taken care of, Ball Joints, Steering
column gear-shift lock and so on...
But as of 2 years ago it's developed a problem with the steering
column. If you take hold of the steering wheel at the 10 2 or 3 9
possession and pull/push, you'll hear and feel a CLUCKING or
POPPING SOUND. The dealership told me they have no fix for it
and that I'll need to get a NEW STEERING COLUMN....!
Does anyone else have this problem and if so I'd love to
document it so we can get a re-call going on this. Reason
being, I don't have the $1400 that they want to replace it!
