Subject: Cab/Box Pop? IP: Logged
Message: Hey all im looking for some insight to a problem ive been attempting to hone in on for some time now. I have a 2000 4.7L Q/C SLT and when torsion is placed on the vehicle I hear a popping noise coming from the back of the cab/box area. This seems to happen in and out of drive ways or even over speed bumps at times. It is deffinitely more prominant on cold rainy days and happens rarely in the summer. Suggestions? Thanks in advance...

Message: My 01 QC makes a little noise when coming out of my drivemway, like it's coming from the suspension, as in rear leaf spring clamps possibly. HOwever, it's not much at all.
As I;m sure you know, many things can make a noise like this. Bad ball jionts, loose shocks, loose body/bed mounts, etc.
Good luck and let us know.

Message: My truck has done this pop as long as I can remember. Funny thing is it only does it when turning right while changing elevations (as in up a driveway, etc.). I'd like to know also.

Message: Thanks for the info thus far. I am almost certain its nothing suspension or steering related. I have narrowed it down to what I think it might be and am going to call the dealer. Im going to see if they use the same cab mounts on the Q/C as they do the extended cab. This following link was fairly interesting....

Message: My '98 Dakota had this problem and it was due to a issue with the cab mounts. In fact, there was a TSB for this issue which I had done. It did correct the problem. Don't know if it applied to the '99 and up Dakotas.

Message: 4x4 SLT QC,
That was an interesting link. Not all of the advice I agreed with looking thru it for a while, but most of it was solid advice.
Interesting about the popping on an incline, just what you had mentioned.
Sometimes, I hear sound from the steering stops- sometimes.
Good find on that link, good luck.
Drive it like its paid for!
