Subject: 1990 Dakota - water dripping under dash
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 1990 Dodge Dakota which I bought over two years ago from the original owner. Just yesterday I started to have water dripping from underneath the dash on the passenger side, and it began to accumulate on the floormat. There have been heavy rains for the last few days, but I have never had this problem before. I'm pretty sure it is not from the A/C.

I've seen a few other posts about similar problems, but I can actually see the dripping. Can anyone help?

I have a 2002 Dakota V6 and I have the same problem. At
carcomplaints.com there are a few very similar complaints.
Everyone says it is the drainhose from the AC.

Yes that is the problem....I took it to my A/C guy and he waited for the engine to cool down a bit, then just stuck his hand down near the engine, on the firewall there is a little rubber drain....he pulled it off and used a thin wire to clear it out. It looked like a leaf or some kind of debris had gotten into the hood cowl and clogged the drain. He said it happens all the time and you just need to unclog the little drain. Then you just reach down and slide it back onto the tube. It's pretty simple and no more swimming pool on the floor of my truck.

I used a Vac at a car wash to suck up most of the soaked carpet, and then I just let it dry out all the way.
