Subject: Ball joint refusal??? IP: Logged
Message: i tried to take my truck in to get the ball joints replaced for the recall but was told but the dealership that they wouldnt do it free as per the recall cuz i already have more than 100,000 miles. now its makeing shuttering vibration noises every now and then when im makeing a low speed turn. it sounds almost like im driving over a very very chunky road even though im not. is this the ball joints? also does dodge have the right to refuse my truck for recall becuase of mileage?

Message: Wizard call Chrysler 1-800-992-1997 have your VIN and info handy tell them what happened at the dealership and ask them to help you out. I'll bet they will either get that store to fix it or find you a dealer that will. Most Important DO NOT LOSE YOUR COOL OR MAKE ANY THREATS ON THE PHONE. first they are recorded and second you wont get your truck fixed. Trust me be nice and if they ask you tell them you wouldn't have driven the truck 100,000 miles if you didnt like it.The dealer is just being a dic! not fixing it for mileage. If it was a sh!tbox and had a ton of mods that made it impossible I could understand it but thats not the case here all the dealer has to do is ask the rep to give him a code to pay the claim if it gets rejected for the mileage.

Message: Now partsmanager, the dealer is just covering his behind. The warranty (at least on my 2wd Dakota) was extended to 10 years OR 100,000 miles. If the truck is over mileage, the dealer was at risk for not getting paid by D-C. Now I'll admit he was being a jerk for not checking with D-C for some sort of exception, but they're basically doing what they were told to do by D-C.
I just had mine replaced last week, BTW. No problem, once I got the service writer to look in the system for the information.
